Who can open a document in Byblos AI Files
A project member opens the project’s files, each document’s access resolves from the member’s project role and any file or folder grant, and the member can view, download or share only what that check allows; search reads document metadata, never document bodies.

Does search read inside every document?
Files search matches document metadata: title, description, file name, tags, category and status. It does not search the contents of document bodies. Use clear titles and useful tags when organizing material so collaborators can find it across the projects and files they are authorized to access.
Can every project member see every file?
Not necessarily. Each document’s access resolves from the member’s project role first, then any file or folder grant on top, so you can keep sensitive material to named members. Search results and share links follow the same check, and a share link opens one document without exposing the rest of the project.
Can connected AI assistants read my files?
Yes, within your access. Through the Byblos AI MCP connector, Claude, Claude Code or ChatGPT can find and read the files your account is allowed to open, and file access rules still apply to every request. Secret values are never available to assistants; keep credentials in Secrets Manager rather than in uploaded documents.
